A Photographer’s Guide to Silent Grove in Edmonson County
Tucked away in the beautiful countryside of Edmonson County, Silent Grove is a venue that blends modern design with rustic charm. From the moment you arrive, it’s easy to see why couples fall in love with it. The barn style reception space features large glass garage doors that can be opened to let in a summer breeze, creating an open, inviting atmosphere while still offering the comfort of an indoor venue.
One thing I immediately appreciated about Silent Grove was how thoughtfully everything was laid out. The venue includes spacious bridal and groom suites, each with their own bathrooms close by on separate levels, making it easy for everyone to get ready without feeling crowded. There’s also a small kitchen area downstairs that’s perfect for preparing food behind the scenes, along with curtains that can be drawn to separate the reception space from the kitchen and bathroom area.
Another feature I loved was the upstairs loft. Not only does it provide additional seating for guests, but it also gave me the perfect vantage point to capture some incredibly fun images of the dance floor from above. Those elevated perspectives added so much variety to the final gallery.
The Ceremony Space
The outdoor ceremony site at Silent Grove is one of its most unique features. Guests make their way down beautiful stone steps that lead into the ceremony area, and those details alone make for gorgeous photographs. The landscaping is well cared for, with lovely flowers surrounding the space, while the custom cutout silo creates a beautiful focal point behind the couple during the ceremony.
The property also features a peaceful pond with a fountain, offering another scenic location for portraits throughout the day.
One thing to consider if you’re planning a summer wedding at Silent Grove is that the ceremony area sits in direct sunlight. During warmer months, a later ceremony will make a noticeable difference in both guest comfort and photography.
Portraits & Golden Hour
The grounds at Silent Grove offer several beautiful portrait locations, especially around the pond and along the tree line. During the brightest part of the afternoon, shaded portrait locations are somewhat limited, but once the sun begins to lower, the property truly comes to life.
The tree line creates the most beautiful golden hour light, giving portraits that soft, dreamy glow every couple hopes for on their wedding day.
For the July wedding I photographed, the light became absolutely perfect around 6:45 PM. Because of that, I’d recommend planning a 6:00 PM summer ceremony at Silent Grove, allowing enough time for the ceremony while still taking advantage of the incredible evening light for portraits.
